And if you are a Democrat, there is a proven way to do that: Run up the numbers in Dane County, the fast-growing and deeply progressive swath of the state that contains Madison and the behemoth public university that carries the state’s name. (AP) — Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice Janet Protasiwiecz's campaign consultant inserted images of horses in ads as a vulgar joke about her opponent, her campaign manager told a liberal podcast last month. Ever since Trump's defeat in Wisconsin in 2020, Republicans have been fighting in court to tighten the rules to limit how many absentee ballots can be accepted. State law requires absentee ballots to be submitted with a witness’ signature and address on the outside envelope that contains the ballot. The local clerks are the ones who run elections and receive the absentee ballots that don’t always have all of the witness address information. Among those he wanted to not count were about 5,500 absentee ballots where clerks filled in missing information on the witness' address. The judge on Tuesday spelled out four ways a witness address could be accepted with some missing information.

The ruling comes in a lawsuit by Democrats that originally sought $2.4 million in damages from all 10 Republicans who submitted a document to Congress falsely declaring Trump as the 2020 election winner in Wisconsin. But Dane County Circuit Judge Frank Remington said they can be questioned, although he put limitations on the Evers interview. Vos filed a motion to dismiss the open meeting violation claims, arguing that under state law American Oversight had to give Ozanne 20 days to refuse or fail to launch an investigation. (AP) — Animal welfare advocates filed a lawsuit Wednesday seeking to invalidate Wisconsin's new wolf management plan, accusing state wildlife officials of violating the state's open meetings law and disregarding comments from wolf researchers and supporters. The Great Lakes Wildlife Alliance, also known as Friends of the Wisconsin Wolf and Wildlife, filed the latest lawsuit in Dane County Circuit Court. A small dog was accidentally sent through the X-ray screening at Dane County Regional Airport in Wisconsin, the Transportation Security Administration said, reminding travelers to check their carry-on bags for pets. "When traveling with any animal, notify your airline & know their rules," the agency's Great Lakes division tweeted Tuesday. A photo showed the dog inside a small black bag. As strange as the incident may be, this is not the first time TSA agents found an animal inside a travel bag. Last month, security officers at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City discovered a live cat trapped inside checked luggage.

Scott McDonnell, the Dane County clerk, confirmed to NBC News that his county had received a virtually identical subpoena as Milwaukee. An Arizona elections official confirmed that Maricopa County had received such a subpoena this month with similar demands for those communications. "Maricopa County has received a subpoena and will comply," Fields Moseley, a county spokesperson, said.
